Black Galaxy is a new addition to our ever growing repertoire of natural stone. This particular paving slab is quarried in India where it is spilt as normal then brushed. This paving is a black quartzite that looks like a night sky as shown in the picture. Quartzite is a hard, non-foliated metamorphic rock which was originally pure quartz sandstone.

Hardstone ensure that the suppliers are all members of the ETI which is a unique organisation bringing together global companies, trade unions and NGOs

With ranges extending from more traditional natural sandstone and limestone to the contemporary and stylish  porcelain paving.

Quartzite Quartzite is a metamorphic stone formed when quartz-rich sandstone or chert has been exposed to pressure and high temperatures. These conditions fuse the quartz grains together forming a hard, dense, equiangular rock. Quartzite tends to have a sugary appearance and glassy lustre. Quartzite can appear superficially similar to marble but quartzite is virtually impossible to mark with a metal blade.
