» In The Beginning LSD is part of a leading builders merchant in Sheffield with real people, vehicles, displays and stocks unlike many other online retailers. The builders merchant was founded in 2003 by Robert Pickard who has over 30 years experience in the trade. A few years later he was joined by his son David Pickard after completing his degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at University College of London, followed by a Masters in Computer Systems and Internet Technology. David quickly began selling his fathers products on eBay to a much wider market, far greater than Sheffield and saw a huge sucess . This led to him writing the code and creating LSD in 2007. From selling items stocked in the premises in Sheffield LSD then started collecting direct from Stoneflair, cutting delivery costs and increasing its product base. At the same time as LSD was expanding the builders merchant was equally. It had started to cut out the middle man also and was importing natural Indian stone direct from India. The father and son worked hard to import a range of stone that was high in quality, diverse in its colour range and low on its price. LSD advertised the range on its site and then again saw rapid sucess. As the stock is in its own yard, orders can be broken down to fit the exact needs of the customer. Buying by the square meter is no problem. Following the sucess of the Stoneflair sales, LSD then moved into the Bradstone paving products and was again able to offer low prices to its customers by collecting direct from the Bradstone depot. » 2009 » LSD′s 2nd Birthday By this time the LSD site was ready for a NEW look and equally the site was getting very crowded, with the number of different products almost reaching 1000. David then set to work with the new product filtering system that allows users to navigate to the paving product they desire in a fast and efficient way as opposed to surfing through pages and pages of products. It was also given a complete new design and look by a graphical and web designer. It was launched in the early days of 2010 ready to allow Google and other search engines to index it ready for the 2010 paving season. » The Birth of BSD, Building Supplies Direct  As LSD had access to not only landscaping products but also building products from the builders merchant, it was decided that Building Supplies Direct be created and launched. Using the same website layout but different colour scheme BSD went live in the end of 2009 with over 1000 products and more being added all the time. BSD focusses on much lighter loads but still offers heavyside items such as lintels and roof windows. » 2010 2010 saw the addition of the Stonemarket landscaping range to the LSD product base. LSD wants to be able to offer its customers exactly what they want and to not just make do with what is in stock at their local merchant at that time. The supplied garden is called "On the Sea by John Keats", designed by Barry Chambers of Changing Scenes. 
"Keats´ sonnet "On the Sea" was written in April 1817 on the Isle of Wight. He writes of how the sea has a way of washing away the mundane, stressful ties of human existence with its wild unbound nature. Gardening can provide a similar escape yet many still seek control and perfection in their garden. This design rejoices in chaos. Like a stormy sea, many of the plants are exuberant and out of control. But the restricted colour palette provides relief for the senses similar to that to which Keats refers in his poem.
